Pakistani Security Guard Among Six Killed In Sydney Stabbing Attack 

Five Australian women and a security guard of Pakistani origin were killed in a knife-attack in Westfield Shopping Centre of Bondi Junction area of Sydney on Saturday. 

Faraz Tahir, 30, had flown to Australia in December 2022 to seek asylum due to religious persecution the Ahmadiyya community are subjected to in Pakistan, and lost his life on his first dayshift while intervening to stop the attack. Since his arrival, Tahir had actively volunteered in his community, a statement from the Ahmadiyya Jamaat of Australia confirmed. 

According to New South Wales Police, the knife-attacker identified as 40-year-old Joel Cauchi had targeted women. Another security guard of Pakistani origin was injured in the attack per the Pakistan High Commission. Ten others, including a toddler, nine women and one men, also sustained knife injuries.
