Samsung Electronics Co. plans to debut its first wearable smart ring as part of its health portfolio at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The South Korean corporation will unveil the Galaxy Ring publicly for the first time after previewing it last month during the Galaxy S24 smartphone series' unveiling in California. The Galaxy Ring provides customers with more customized and seamless experiences, thanks to improvements in artificial intelligence, Samsung said in a statement.

Visitors to the Mobile World Congress will also be able to see new health features on the Galaxy Watch6 series connected with the Galaxy S24 before they become available later this year, according to Samsung. The Galaxy Ring will be officially launched later in 2024.

Health tracking is already a major selling point for smartphones and wearables, with Samsung, Apple Inc., and Alphabet Inc.'s Google utilizing such functions to attract and keep users.

Developing sensors for continuous blood pressure and glucose monitoring would be a very beneficial development. Apple has spent years developing a glucose sensor that does not require users to prick their skin for blood, which might benefit millions of diabetics.
