Elon Musk's social media platform X has filed a lawsuit against a left-wing pressure organisation that accused the site of permitting anti-Semitic messages alongside advertisements.

According to X's lawsuit, Media Matters for America "manipulated" data in order to "destroy" the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Apple, Disney, IBM, and Comcast have all suspended advertising on X since the watchdog disclosed its findings.

Musk was labeled a bully by Media Matters after threatening to sue.

Ads advocating Nazism, such as Hitler quotations and Holocaust denial, surfaced on X last week, according to the advocacy organization.

Separately, Musk was accused last week of propagating an anti-Semitic cliché on the site.

The lawsuit, which was filed in Texas on Monday, alleges that "Media Matters knowingly and maliciously manufactured side-by-side images depicting advertisers' posts on X Corp's social media platform beside Neo-Nazi and white-nationalist fringe content and then portrayed these manufactured images as if they were what typical X users experience on the platform." Media Matters created both these photos and the accompanying media plan in order to drive sponsors away from the platform and ruin X Corp."

According to the lawsuit, advertising for Comcast, Oracle, and IBM was displayed alongside abusive content for Media Matters but not for any other viewer.

Linda Yaccarino, CEO of X, tweeted on Monday, "Here's the reality." Not a single genuine user on X saw IBM, Comcast, or Oracle advertisements next to the content in Media Matters' article."
