The social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced global disruptions on Thursday that lasted slightly over an hour.

According to Downdetector.com, which tracks outages by collecting status reports, over 47,000 US customers experienced access troubles with X and X Pro.

Some users in the UK and Asia were also unable to access postings on the site with the phrase "Welcome to X!"

Elon Musk's company, X, has been approached for comment. Last year, Musk paid $44 billion (£35 billion) for Twitter.

Within minutes after reporting the disruptions, the hashtag #TwitterDown began to spread.

However, the downtime was brief, with customers able to use the platform again in just over an hour.

The platform has been losing advertising income since Musk purchased it.

He has also been accused of permitting anti-Semitic comments alongside advertisements.

The corporation has subsequently filed a lawsuit against the left-wing lobbying organization Media Matters for America, which made the claim.

Elon Musk attacked advertisers that quit X last month, threatening to eliminate the social networking site.

The corporation has also been accused of misinformation, with the European Union explicitly stating that it accuses X of violating its laws in areas such as combating unlawful content and disinformation.
