In order to address a problem with its newest iPhones overheating, Apple (AAPL.O) updated its iOS 17 operating system on Wednesday.
The titanium-clad iPhone 15 series, which is powered by a specially designed A17 Pro processor, was introduced last month with the Pro and Pro Max models. The Pro line's hardware makes the gadgets appropriate for high-end mobile gaming.
Customers complained about poor battery life and overheating shortly after the iPhone 15 variants were introduced.
In addition to "important bug fixes, security updates, and addressing an issue that may cause the iPhone to run warmer than expected," the most recent update to iOS 17 also solves the issue, according to a statement sent by an Apple spokesperson on Wednesday.
Apple stated earlier this week that the smartphone may feel warmer in the first few days "after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity" in response to accusations that the new phones are becoming extremely heated.
The firm said that recent modifications to select third-party applications, such as Uber and Instagram by Meta (META.O), were overtaxing the system and that the Pro versions do not experience overheating as a consequence of their design but rather better heat dissipation owing to the new titanium shells.
